Join to hear our FDA senior leaders’ goals for key FSMA implementation principles related to Preventive Controls (PC) inspection approaches. The PC regulation provisions are framed around a systems thinking approach that is informed by both tangibles (records review e.g., food safety plan review) and intangibles (observations and discussions with employees).

Speaker Information

Joann Givens, Food and Feed Program Director, Office of Regulatory Affairs, FDA


Joann Givens is one of the senior leaders responsible for oversight and accomplishments in the food and feed program involving field operations.  She currently is responsible for the execution of the Food and Feed Program Alignment Action Plan and strategic recommendations/decisions for the specialized food and feed workforce.  She has over 35 years of field operations experience. In addition, she is a co-Lead of the FSMA Phase 2 Implementation Steering Committee for the designing and implementation of new operational models for the proposed FSMA rules.  She works closely with leaders in the Office of Food and Veterinary Medicine, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, Center for Veterinary Medicine and Office of International Programs.


Christopher J. Neugent, President and CEO, Post Consumer Brands


Prior to the company’s acquisition by Post Holdings, Chris Neugent served as CEO and Chairman of MOM Brands® Company. After joining the company in 2001 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Chris was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2004. In 2006, Chris was promoted to President, and in 2008 the Board promoted him to Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining MOM Brands, Chris held finance, sales, and brand marketing positions with Frito-Lay, including Vice President of Marketing – Wholesome Snacking. During his tenure there, he led a variety of brands such as Doritos, Baked Lays, Sunchips, Rold Gold Pretzels, and Cracker Jack. While at Frito-Lay, Chris was named one of the Top 100 Marketers in the United States by Advertising Age Magazine in 2000.

Chris is a graduate of Princeton University and the Advanced Management Program of the Wharton School of Business. He serves on the Board of Overseers for the Carlson School of Management, Second Harvest Heartland and on the Executive Committee Advisory Board for Enactus. Chris is past Chairman of the Board of Special Olympics Minnesota. He currently serves on the Finance Committee and Church Council of Wayzata Community Church.
